Haiti - Culture : The permanent collection of the Art Center soon available online
The rich permanent collection of the Art Center (5,500 works) will be soon available on the CollectiveAccess platform https://collectiveaccess.org/ thanks to the support of the French Development Agency (AFD) through the "Tambou" project.

This initiative will provide audiences around the world with a unique opportunity to explore Haiti’s rich artistic heritage.

CollectiveAccess is free and open-source software designed for online cataloging and publishing of collections, museums and archives. It is used by many institutions, from national museums to local history consortia to highly specialized archives.

It is the company IdéesCultures, specialized in supporting French-speaking users of CollectiveAccess, which is responsible for operationalizing the process. Hired by the French Development Agency, it has already carried out the migration of around 80% of the works on the platform and the training of certain members of the Center team in the use CollectiveAccess features.

This new tool will include essential functionalities such as cataloging collections, managing movements, organizing exhibitions, multilingual publication of collections, visitor management, as well as the possibility of redirecting to a sales platform. It will be hosted on the Art Center website.

Users will have the opportunity to browse through the collection, comprising a wide variety of works, from paintings and sculptures to graphic arts and ceramics and other types of plastic creations. Each work will be accompanied by a detailed description, providing information about its creator, its creation context, as well as relevant anecdotes and historical facts. In addition, the project provides for the integration of a link between CollectiveAccess and Artsy to offer enriched information before the online publication of the collections.
