Haiti - Culture : The Market’ from the local to the Global
The 3rd Biennial Ghetto which takes place in the neighborhood of Grand Rue, Port-au-Prince [26 November to 16 December 2013], around the theme The Market’ from the local to the Global brings together Haitian artists and art professionals from several countries, including among others: Great Britain, Trinidad, Canada, Cuba, Sweden, Germany, Italy and Japan.

The responses to the theme of this biennial fall in many projects dealing with commodities traditionally found on Haitian local markets such as coffee and salt, coal, used clothing, fruits, beer or handicrafts. These goods will be used by artists as a starting point for their investigations or, more directly, as raw materials for their artistic practices. The results of all these collaborative exchange will be presented in an exhibition in the form of an alternative market that emphasizes both the global as local.

Within the framework of the neighborhood policy established by the Administration Martelly and the Government Lamothe to interact with artists in precarious neighborhoods to encourage their creation. The Minister Delegate Anne Marie Auguste Carmele Rose, responsible for Human Right and the fight against extreme poverty has praised the work of "artists of resistance" and was impressed by the amount of works created by these followers of artists of the Grand-rue. Among the exhibits included hundreds of creation of "Timoun Rezistans" (Children of resistance) that the delegate Minister considers as beautiful works of art.
