Haiti - Economy : 3 million euros for micro-finance
Friday PROPARCO, the development finance institution owned by the French Development Agency (AFD) and private shareholders from the North and South, has signed a credit line in Haitian gourdes, equivalent to €3 million [[±178 millions 400,000 Gourdes], with the institution of Haitian microfinance ACME (Association for Cooperation with the micro Enterprise) to support the growth of its portfolio.

The signing ceremony took place in Port-au-Prince, in the presence of the Ambassador of France in Haiti, Patrick Nicoloso, Ms. Josseline C. Fethière, President of the Board, of Sinior Raymond, CEO of ACME and Ms. Bénédicte Gazon, Director of AFD in Haiti, and executives of the association.

Access to financial services and the increase in penetration of microfinance remains a major development challenge in Haiti. With outstanding loans of approximately €17 million [± 965 millions 600,000 gourdes] and more than 34,000 customers, ACME is one of the leading institutions on the market of the microfinance in Haiti. By its action, it contributes significantly to the development of financial inclusion in urban areas as in rural areas.

The French Development Agency (AFD), an ACME partner for several years, involved with the institution of micro-finance its mechanism ARIZ guarantee (Guarantee for private
investment financing risks) designed to facilitate access to credit facilities. The willingness of ACME to maintain a healthy balance between social performance and financial profitability, its strong commitment to the Principles of Client Protection, the quality of its management and its ongoing commitment to improving its business and operational practices are all reasons for the AFD Group to continue the accompaniment of AFD.

ACME is a Haitian micro-finance institution, established in 2009, owned by the NGO founder ACME Asbl (created in 1997), Incofin, the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) and private shareholders. It operates a network of 28 branches and 3 counters in Haiti, employs over 430 people and serves more than 34,000 clients. ACME microloans have an average amount close to $650 (± 26,910 Gourdes). ACME joined the "SMART" Campaign on Principles of Client Protection and engaged in a certification process in 2013.
