Haiti - Tourism : Things are moving everywhere !
Signing of a tripartite agreement in Jacmel :
Mr. Adonis Noë, the Mayor of Jacmel, signed a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Tourism, the City of Jacmel and the Urban Community of Cap Excellence (Guadeloupe), which concerns the construction of an innovative cultural infrastructure, the creation of a cluster of cultural and creative industries and the development of an event offers cultural and tourist of quality. The Urban Community of Cap Excellence will provide an institutional support to the Departmental Directorate southeast of the Ministry of Tourism and the Town Hall of Jacmel, will ensure the implementation of tools for cultural development and the implementation of the "culture-tourism" strategy initiated by the Haitian Government.

Strengthen the accommodating capacity of the North destination :
Monday, Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne, Regional Director north of the Ministry of Tourism, met with Mr. Skye Justice, Attaché for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of the United States of America in Haiti. The objective of this meeting was to see the possibility of strengthening the accommodating capacity of visitors of the Destination (Hotels rooms). At this meeting, the creation of a forum on economic opportunities in the tourism sector in the provinces of North and Northeast has also has been considered.

Survey on visitors in the North :
Monday, Northern Regional Office of the Ministry of Tourism has deployed 7 surveyors, which will go to the international airport of Cap-Haitien and Bus stations in the City, to inquire about the profile of domestic and international visitors to the destination. This survey requested by the World Bank as part of the tourist aspects of its projects in the North will last until December 27.
A training session was held last Tuesday for agents on the use of materials and methodology of the survey. Note that this survey will also allow to have a better understanding of how visitors experience the North destination.

Training in the tourism sector in Côtes-de-Fer :
Last Friday, a team of young people from the region of Côtes-de-Fer, chosen by Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and considered as active representatives of this town, visited the institute of hotel and tourism training of Les Cayes (IFORHT) and participated in a training session on the tourism sector. The objective of this training was to educate young on thematic workshops, that will soon be held in the area on the different trades of the tourism sector. Karine Condé, the Departmental Director of Tourism South, focused her intervention on 5 major points: The importance of training and the importance of the Tourism Sector ; the involvement of the community for the success of the project "Destination Côtes-de-Fer" ; the contribution of the tourism sector in the economy of the area and youth awareness on sustainable tourism.

Working meeting with City Council of Jacmel :
Friday, a workshop hosted by Adonis Noë, the Mayor of Jacmel and his deputy Mathurin Royal, was the occasion to bring together partners of the City Hall. Following this fruitful exchange between the Ministry of Tourism, the Spanish Cooperation, the Technical Board of the Historical Center of Jacmel, UNESCO, the French Development Agency on the prospects and challenges in term of Urban Development of Jacmel, a visit was organized to the historical center of Jacmel and the former landfill in Boisboeuf.
