Haiti - Economy : Haiti Aviation working tirelessly to resume flights
Haiti Aviation, the new Haitian airline, who suddenly suspended its flights between Miami and Toussaint Louverture International Airport since Thursday, December 19, reported working tirelessly to resume flights [without giving a date of recovery], but that reimbursements of customers take precedence for the moment. Thousands of passengers have already been repaid.

Recall that Haiti Aviation within a one-year contract, leased a 150-seats aircraft and 6 crew to the company Falcon Air Express (FAE). The sudden interruption of flights would result according to Nelson Ramiz Jr., CEO of Falcon to a late payment [5 days]. The latter had also declared in a interview at the Miami Herald "On Friday, they paid half and said they would pay the rest on Monday. It came and went. They asked us to wait until Wednesday [...] t 4:30 p.m. we got a message saying all of the service providers need to give them five days credit [...] When we saw they were having problems with paying for fuel, asking for five days credit and didn’t contact us, we sent them a cancellation notice."

What refutes Charles Voigt a founder of Haiti Aviation who says "we don’t owe them any money. I couldn’t understand why out of the blue, they stopped leasing us the aircraft and left thousands of our customers stranded," recalling that FAE has a deposit of $300,000 and that the credit card companies hold almost $700,000.

Charles Voigt stated that since July he was paid about $ 1.5 million to FAE and almost the same amount to its fuel supplier, which considers his company as a good customer and wondered if Falcon wants to take control of the road ? A strange case to follow...

"This situation was out of my control, I still take full responsibility for the matter [...] I thank all those who stand by me during this troublesome time and we appreciate your ongoing support [...]"
