Haiti - Politic : Integration of students from CTPEA within the public administration
Jean-Marie Chérestal, Special Adviser to the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), in policy and and external planning and Maxime Chérestal Chief of Staff, recently met at the Ministry at the request of the Minister of Planning, Laurent Lamothe, the graduating students of the Center of Planning Techniques and Applied Economics (CTPEA) about the process of their integration in the various departments of the Ministries.

This first meeting was an opportunity for the Government to express its willingness to promote the integration of young professionals within the public service. For two weeks, 43 students graduates of CTPEA, will become familiar with the ministries through the various technical directors. After this period, the MPCE will send these students in state institutions already in favor of this initiative.

The integration of students within institutions of planning and development, follows one of the fundamental objectives of CTPEA that is to strengthen the Unit of Studies and Planning (UEP) of sectoral ministries. Recall that the three modules around which the training takes place, Planning, Applied Economics and Statistics, have been identified accoring to the needs in sectoral planning : programming, monitoring and evaluation of projects of institutions. This first group of students will be distributed through the EPU and will benefit from technical guidance, set up to welcome them.

According to Jean-Marie Chérestal this dynamic fits in the vision of the Prime Minister to make Haiti, an emerging country by 2030. "This absorption capacity, necessarily involves the institutional strengthening, the creation of the political and social stability, job creation, private investment, the reduction of extreme poverty, wealth creation, etc..."

"We are in talks with Chile, known for its performance in terms of public investment. This country, who wants as soon as possible to accompany us, has 3,500 professionals specializing in the evaluation of projects," said Jean-Marie Chérestal, recalling that the Prime Minister is convinced that training is the only guarantee for the sustainability of all investment policies that may engage Haiti.

Finally, the Special Adviser stressed the commitment of MPCE to accompany on a sustainable basis these students from CTPEA as part of their integration into the Haitian government, after having been stayed too long outside the system.
