Haiti - Education : The Ministry of Education condemns the acts of vandalism against school
In a note, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) has learned with shock and dismay the odious act committed, Monday, Jan. 27, by unidentified individuals whosmeared with feces the lycée Daniel Fignolé in Port-au-Prince, causing strong emotion among staff and students of the institution.

The department strongly condemns this act of vandalism against an educational institution. He stresses that this action resembles strangely with an act occurred in Cap-Haitien October 28, 2013, where unidentified individuals had thrown tear gas bombs against students in full working session in their classrooms to the lycées Jean Baptiste Dudy Boukman and Philippe Guerrier https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9754-haiti-news-some-news-here-and-there.html

MENFP presents its sympathies to the students and staff of the lycée Daniel Fignole deeply traumatized by this criminal act, which probably reflects a state of moral degradation and values in the society.

The Ministry that has already informed the judicial authorities for actions and prosecutions against the perpetrators of this act, appeals to the sense of responsibility of all citizens to protect the school and the students of all the excesses of this kind.

In addition, the Ministry reiterates its call for calm and serenity for normal resumption of classes. He regretted that some schools are still affected, despite the agreement between the Government Commission "Ad hoc" responsible for conducting negotiations with teachers' unions Platform (CONEH, GIEL, UNNOEH, CNEH, FENATEC), establishing a truce of 20 days from 27 January 2014.

MENFP encourages students not to be manipulated by people with unavowed projects on the back of the school, who have nothing to do with the status of teachers. MENFP therefore appeal to the sense of responsibility of all stakeholders to guide students which shouldn't under any circumstances, find themselves in the streets but in the classroom to improve their skills and knowledge in preparation for their future.

The National Union of Haitian Normaliens (UNNOH), continues to denounce the agreement.Josué Mérilien, the General Coordinator of the UNNOH says that this protocol sign the death warrant of teachers, saying "We did not ask for a wage increase but but a fixing of a basic monthly salary to 50,000 gourdes." Confirming a new mobilization for Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 January to require satisfaction of their claims The demonstration will begin at the École Normale Supérieure on the Street Mgr Guillouxto finish before the Ministry of Education on the Street Audain.
