Haiti - Education : Towards a National Assises on Education Quality 08/02/2014 11:06:42 For developers of the project, "[...] the quality is thought of as a vector incorporating several dimensions that together helps to facilitate the dynamics of teaching and learning process : curriculum and learning materials, language, teacher quality, teaching methods, time devoted to teaching, material conditions, governance etc..." The National assizes on the quality of education intend to approach the issue of quality according to five main factors affecting quality, as proposed by UNESCO: the learners, the national economic and social context, resources human and material, the process of teaching and learning, the results and benefits of education. According to the developers "[...] the assizes seek to highlight the importance of these dimensions in the Haitian education system and their interaction in the context of a real quality mapping. Exchanges will lead to develop a framework for analysis, monitoring and quality improvement. The idea of an observatory of the quality of education will be explored and its feasibility analyzed in relation to the role that can play the different groups of actors (educational community, civil society, universities and research centers, State and local authorities and international partners) in the implementation of a monitoring device and improving the quality of education in Haiti. Beyond the idea of the Observatory on the Quality of Education, it is possible to engage stakeholders (government, civil society and international partners) around a more ambitious project for a National Pact for quality of education, devoting the commitments of each party to mobilize resources and to make appropriate decisions for a Haitian education accessible and quality." The Ministry should make announcements shortly on the implementation of the Assizes. HL / HaitiLibre
