Haiti - Education : 2nd phase of training for the municipal technicians
The Ministry of Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), with the support of UN-HABITAT and the collaboration of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE) on Wednesday launched the second phase of training (initiated in April 2013) for capacity building of technicians of Local Technical Agents (ATL) of several communes.

During this 3-day training, 50 technicians of ATL coming from : Croix-des-Bouquets, Delmas, Jacmel, Miragoane, Pétion-ville, Port-au-Prince, Tabarre et Saint-Marc, will learn the techniques and methods necessary for the development of planning plan of their respective communes.

In his intervention, Me Carmel Jean Baptiste, Representative of MICT thanked UN-HABITAT for its financial and technical support to the organization of this second phase of the training and indicated that the training of municipal technicians, is one of the priorities of the Government Martelly/Lamothe and is part of the context of sustainable development and effective decentralization of the country.

Mr. Jude Saint-Natus, the Deputy National Coordinator of UN-HABITAT projects, emphasized on the significant contribution of joint actions of the MICT and UN-HABITAT to help strengthen Haitian technical capacity, in particular through the Support Programme for Reconstruction of Housing and Neighbourhoods (PARLOQ) stressing that training for ATL, meets the need to have a common development plan, tool waited for at least 20 years.
