Haiti - Politic : Toward the development of the commune of Terre-Neuve
Tuesday at the invitation of Deputy Rosemond Jodson Leroy, of the second constituency of Anse-Rouge / Terre-Neuve, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied among others by, Senators Wencesclass Lambert and Willy Jean Baptiste, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture Jacques Thomas and departmental delegate of the Artibonite, Jean Auguste Michel, visited the town of Terre-Neuve.

The Head of Government proceeded with the laying of the foundation stone for a new health center, which will allow pregnant women to give birth safely. Covering an area of 991 m2, this infrastructure will include an operating theater, a pharmacy, a hospital room, several consultation rooms and a modern laboratory. The construction of this health center is funded by the Canadian Government through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

He also inaugurated a new municipal market, funded by the Treasury, through the communal funds. Featuring modern health infrastructure this market provides a better framework to traders.

Thereafter, Laurent Lamothe met at the parsonage of the village, with Senator of the Artibonite Jean Willy Jean Baptiste, the Deputy Rosemond Jodson Leroy, local authorities and civil society organizations. Discussions focused on the need to implement road infrastructure projects, school and sanitation.

Laurent Lamothe announced the establishment of a special plan for the constituency Terre-Neuve/Anse-Rouge and in the short term, the Head of Government will set up a Committee to implement this special plan that includes, among other the construction of the section of road between Gonaives and Terre-Nuev, the collection and distribution of drinking water in Anse-Rouge, a computer lab and the construction and rehabilitation of several kilometers of irrigation canals for farmers.

Following its discussions with local authorities, the Prime Minister has also solemnly undertaken to ensure the rehabilitation of public schools in the town, as well as the construction of the first lyc2e of Terre-Neuve. Also 40 streetlights will be installed in the town.

According to Father Eugène Guillaume, the Prime Minister's visit is an important step towards the opening of the coññune of Terre-Neuve. For his part, the Deputy Leroy said that the presence of number 2 of the Executive, to this double event demonstrates the commitment of the Administration Martelly and of Government Lamothe to promote decentralization, local governance and development regions.
