Haiti - Education : 42 young supervisors of Literacy Centers in Popular neighborhoods
Thursday, 42 youth having participated in a 2-days training seminar, for supervisors of literacy centers in popular neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince will have for mission to oversee the literacy classes, which will be installed in fifty popular neighborhoods of the capital, such as : Martissant, Fontamara, Grand- Ravine, Fort National, Bélair, Village de Dieu, Cité Soleil...

Coordinated by the Office of the Minister Delegate for Human Rights and the Fight against Poverty Extreme, this seminar was hosted by executives of the Secretary of State for Literacy.

Marie Carmelle Rose Anne Auguste, Minister Delegate for Human Rights and the Fight against Extreme Poverty welcomed the willingness of the young to participate in this special program. She considers the participation of young people as a civic contribution to the fight against social exclusion "Learning to read and write is part of human rights." The Minister Augustus called for the participation of everyone in the fight against illiteracy in Haiti.

The establishment of literacy classes in popular neighborhoods, is part of the implementation of the plan of special intervention of struggle against extreme poverty. It is a six-month plan implemented by the Office of the Minister Auguste in partnership with several agencies.

Within two weeks a new training seminar will target more than 200 literacy instructors.
