Haiti - Elections : The CTCEP try to continue to work normally... 26/02/2014 11:10:19 The absence of the official signing of the agreement, hampers the preparation of elections. The Advisor Applys Félix, Representative of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) emphasizes that weekly meetings were suspended "In these weekly meetings, we discussed on technical issues, including thenecessary budget for the organization of the next elections [...] We would like first to finalize the budget to submit it to the competent authorities before to work on the calendar. It is essential for us to know the number of elections to organize because the electoral law in 2013, gave us the mandate to conduct elections for only one third of the Senate..." In the absence of this agreement, the CTCEP can not really move forward both on the budget and the calendar. Its mandate does not allow it to hold elections combined. The Council must also consider its conversion in rovisional Electoral Council and of departure and arrival of new Advisors and finally the amendment of the electoral law and its impact on the organization of the upcoming elections.
