Haiti - Politic : Mayor of Montreal ended his Mission 15/03/2014 12:08:27 This program, with a duration of 5 years, funded at 21.4 million by the Government of Canada, whose $ 19.1 million from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (MAECD) and a contribution in donations of services amounting to 2.3 million, from FCM, the city of Montreal and UMQ. With this agreement, "We are strongly turned towards institutional restructuring in the context of the implementation of the second phase of the program," declared Mayor Coderre. "If the Canadian government through the MAECD decided to invest in Phase II of the project is that the PCM1 [launched in January 2011] has proved its worth," aid Claude Dauphin "This is the evidence that the work has been done on the ground [...] We hope that after five years of this new PCM local authorities can fly with their own wings." Friday morning, Denis Coderre met with President Martelly and gave him an official invitation for him to go to Montreal. Thereafter, the Mayor of Montreal visited the historic market of Port-au-Prince, met Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works, Transport, Energy and Communications, to offer him the expertise of the City of Montreal in the treatment of waste. He also visited the Town Hall of the capital where the Tropicana Group [favorite Haitian Group of Mayor Coderre] gave him an honorary plaque to thank him for his contribution to the radiance of the Haitian Band, in Quebec. That same day, the mayor attended the official opening of a stretch of road in Grand Goâve and proceeded to the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding with the four municipalities in the region of Palmes. Mayor Coderre will be back in Montreal on Saturday.
