Haiti - Tourism : Jacmel candidate to the program Creative Cities of UNESCO
The Municipality of Jacmel in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism has transmitted the application of Jacmel to the program Creative Cities of UNESCO. This initiative will allow both to preserve and sustainably revitalize the historic center of Jacmel.

The accession of the Metropolis of Southeast ito the Creative Cities Network will facilitate the access to all member cities and to a set of knowledge, information and experiences in order to promote the development local cultural industries and international cooperation.

The decision to submit the application of Jacmel to this program, followed workshops with stakeholders from the private sector and associative on the future of the city.

The program Creative Cities of UNESCO seems to be naturally dedicated to cities such as Jacmel, where the "terroir" of creative artists, craftspeople, cultural organizations, and major events has more than 400 artisans grouped into dozens of associations, whose specialty is paper mache, which made ​​his fame and attract thousands of visitors, photographers and videographers during the carnival festivities.

Let us recall, that the historic district of Jacmel is already on the permanent list of World Monuments Fund and is also on the indicative list of World Heritage as heritage of humanity.
