Haiti - Health : Launch of pilot project «Town, village healthy» in Petit-Goâve
Sunday was launched in Petit-Goâve the Pilot Project "Town, village healthy", in the presence of Deputy Mayor of Petit-Goâve Mr. Othelite Lindor, of Dr. Gustave Jean François, Coordinator of the "Communal Health Unit Goâvienne" (UCS-Goâvienne), of Jean-Baptiste, Director of the "Direction Sanitaire de l’Ouest" (DSO), of Dr. Jocelyne Pierre-Louis, Director of the "Directorate of Health Promotion and Protection of the Environment" (DPSPE), of Dr. Byron Paul André, a Quebec delegation led by Mrs. Paul Simard, of members of the Multi-Sectoral Committee, Civil Society, socio-professional associations and judicial authorities.

"This project aims to make of Petit-Goâve a model, a strong city, a healthy city, with a clean, safe environment where people's basic needs are met and where we practice mutual assistance in a diversified economy. Is to live in a community where everyone contributes to the preservation of his health," said in his speech Dr. Gustave Jean François.

For her part, Mrs. Paul Simard noted that "[...] health is everybody's business, the business of the municipality, of the Ministry of Public Health and people working together in the framework of a multi-sectoral approach and a global vision. Today, health involves the participation of Civil Society. You have to work with people who know the issues, organizations and citizens," adding that "the project 'Town, village healthy' [...] is to increase the empowerment of people. It is put together people who have all kinds of knowledge, ii's to use all the settings, all the factors, all the ingredients that make you stay healthy."

For her part, Dr. Jocelyne Pierre Louis, has focused on the various conditions that must be met for one to be healthy in a community emphasizing that "The health sector can not alone ensure the health of everyone. The cooperation of everyone is necessary," concluding that this project is "[...] a strategy that has a future for Haiti. It is a strategy that aims to convey to people more resources, more mastery so they can better manage their health. This project should lead to social cohesion, improving the quality of life, for Petit-Goâve become a model in the context of the implementation of this pilot."

Finally, Othelite Lindor has called for the collaboration of all sectors of the people of the city as well as those in rural areas, for Petit-Goâve become a healthy community stressing that it was the responsibility of everyone.
