Haiti - Social : 211th anniversary of Toussaint Louverture 05/04/2014 11:05:22 Message from the Consul General of Haiti in Chicago : "It is for each of us an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the passage on this earth of the man who deserved to be called 'The First of Black'. Toussaint Louverture is a symbol of bravery and integrity. Although his legacy belongs to the world, it is first ours. We are the deep and numerous roots to which he alluded to the dark time of his abduction. If nothing can prevent us from being proud of Toussaint, wa have also to honor his memory by practicing like him the self-esteem and solidarity. At a time when our country finally settles in the era of prestige that suits him, and where fatalism gives way to hope, we must, like Toussaint Louverture, be guided by wisdom, patience and determination." As part of the commemoration, the Consular Mission will present a special program Sunday, April 6 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on the airwaves of "Radio Haiti International Chicago" (1590 AM) retransmit also on www.1590wcgo.com/ HL/ HaitiLibre
