Haiti - Economy : Laurent Lamothe visited the national manufacturer of paintings MATPAR
As part of its policy to promote investment, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe undertook for several weeks a series of visits in Haitian businesses in order to collect their grievances for the implementation of appropriate public policies to support the private sector in its efforts to create jobs for the population "Our role is to support all Haitian businesses that create wealth and the employment in the country to fight on all fronts against extreme poverty," said Prime Minister Lamothe.

After his visit on April 14 to the company of Rum Barbancourt and at industrial campuses of Coles Group, including the companies Tropic S.A, Cannex and Sun Food https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10941-haiti-economy-prime-minister-visited-barbancourt-and-industrial-complex-coles-group.html the Head of Government, accompanied by Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Fresnel Jean Baptiste, Director General of the General Administration of Customs (GAC) and some members of his Cabinet, visited Monday the national manufacturer of paintings (MATPAR) to Bizoton 51 (Commune of Carrefour), specializing in the production and sale of paint and varnish of quality, whose 65% of inputs and 100% of the packages come from Haiti.

Prime Minister Lamothe has paid tribute to the company, 58 years old (founded July 11, 1956 by Harold C. Parks, Édouard Mathon et Paul Mathon), which employs 160 people directly and 1,500 indirect jobs. The MATPAR has already invested more than 325 million gourdes, however, despite these investments, the company is still unable to export its products abroad.

Philipe Mathon, CEO of MATPAR stressed "We work every day to compete with imported products," but it must be remembered that this competition it is also the smuggling, which is one of the problems faced by the Haitian businesses especially with the neighboring Republic. Laurent Lamothe has promised to increase the number of surveillance brigades, for better border control "Respectable companies that pay taxes should in no way suffer unfair competition from smugglers."

On the sidelines of his visit, the Head of Government declared "It is necessary that the government supports local businesses. Because more they areproductive and profitable, more they create jobs. Thus, we will be able to overcome extreme poverty for a more just and inclusive society."

Note that MATPAR made tested between 17 and 25 April by 16 groups of artists of Cap-Haitien, Jacmel and Port-au-Prince who carried out 4 collective paintings, its new line of fine acrylic painting "Tout Pou Youn", the first painting for artists manufactured in Haïti, which took almost a year and a half for its development (an order from the Haiti Action Artists Association). his painting will be sold to the community shop of materials for artists "Tout Pou Youn", located at the Culture Creation Foundation Canapé Vert in Port au Prince. The works of these artists will be exhibited at the French Institute in Haiti Wednesday, April 30 to Saturday May 10 and to the French Alliance of Jacmel, and the French Alliance of Cap-Haitien, as first steps of an exhibition tour.
