Haiti - Education : Inauguration of a computer lab at the National School of Petion-ville
Thursday, as part of government efforts to modernize the Haitian education system, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe accompanied of the Senators Northwest, Lucas St Vil and Mélius Hyppolite, of Lucien Francoeur Secretary General of the Prime Minister, Himmler Rébu, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, inaugurated a computer lab at the National School of Petion-ville (Lycée National de Pétion-ville) in the presence of the Mayor of Petion-Ville, Ms. Jolicoeur Yvanka Brutus, of Jean Marc Charles, Director of the School, teachers and many students who offered a wreath to the Prime Minister.

This computer laboratory equipped with 25 brand new computers with internet connection, was handed over to responsible of the oldest secondary school in the town (built in 1963).



Prime Minister Lamothe thanked the young students for their warm welcome, while reiterating his willingness to work in favor of free and universal education for all children in Haiti. He has committed to provide new materials and equipment, such as chairs, a library and renovate the infirmary.



Recalling that the Senators Lucas St-Vil, Melius Hyppolite, Isnard Douby, Lucien Francoeur, Antoine Atouristen, Manno Sanon and Tabou Combo team, are among the alumni of the School, which hosts 5,000 students (morning and evening) daily.

Following the ceremony, the Head of Government distributed tens of digital tablets "Surtab" (assembled in Haiti) to teachers of the School and members of the Philo Committee
and promise to offer top 5 in each class, tablets to reward them and encourage excellence.

Jean Marc Charles, Director of the School, was pleased to this visit, which reflects according to him, the priority given by the Government Lamothe to education, but also to the Lycée, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.
