Haiti - Education : Readjustment of strategies of the 6th National Literacy Campaign 26/05/2014 11:27:21 On the basis of shared information during this meeting, a new calendar was created for the implementation of activities, according to a schedule much more suited to the reality of each area of intervention. This new agenda provides the specific dates of the various stages of the process of the establishment of literacy classes at the level of 10 communes involved in special plans. Recall that the sixth national literacy campaign aims 450,000 youth and adults for a period of 24 months and will be performed in 10 departments of the country. In this sense, the Secretary of State for Literacy has taken all steps to start screening operations, organize training seminars prior to the opening of classes in the ommunes of Côtes-de-Fer, Petit-Goâve and Verrettes. Since the launch in Bernagousse (1st section of the town of Pestel), 21 March 2014, of the national literacy campaign by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, 1,815 students attending the 65 classes that work after screening operations conducted from February 22 to March 3 and the training sessions provided to facilitators, instructors and supervisors. The implementation of these classes in Bernagousse participates in the decision of the administration Martelly-Lamothe to eradicating the scourge of illiteracy in the locality where the government is working hard to meet the basic social needs of the population. Moreover, in the department of Grand Anse, this campaign will help to pave the way of instruction to 15.295 citizens.
