In addition to this generous gesture, Mother's Day was celebrated this year with a series of activities organized in the country by the Administration Martelly-Lamothe.

At the Prison for Women in Pétion-Ville, this day was marked by a Mass of Thanksgiving presided by Bishop Kesnel Alphonse, which was attended by risoners, including minors in the presence of Rose Anne Auguste, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister Responsible for Human Rights and the Fight against Poverty Extreme. In his homily for the occasion, Bishop Kesnel Alphonse wished that justice pays particular attention to the situation of women victims of prolonged preventive detention.

Minister Auguste promised to continue to advocate with the judicial authorities in order to facilitate the progress of certain records, noting that the Government was aware of the situation of prolonged pretrial detention and that it had worked hard to solve this problem by reactivating among others the Office of control of prolonged pretrial detention (BUCODEP).

In addition, 1,000 baskets of solidarity were distributed to Laboule 24 (communal section of Petion-Ville) to mothers, in partnership with the Association of Women dedicated of Thomassin (AFADETH) "It is time that our mothers ease to live in poverty and extreme poverty. It is time to put an end to this situation of poverty in the country," declared Minister Auguste which reaffirmed the Government's commitment to work towards the eradication of extreme poverty in the country. She also announced that the sub-program "Ti Manman Cheri" of the National Social Assistance "Ede Pèp" program will soon stop in Thomassin.

Minister Auguste then went to Obléon (locality of Kenscoff) where the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe received several hundred women.
