Haiti - Politic : Haitian high-level delegation in visit to Canada 03/06/2014 10:10:57 On Monday, the mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre welcomed the Haitian delegation composed of : Ronald Oscar, Deputy of Gressier, Pierre Michel Lubin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), Uder Antoine, General Coordinator of the OMRH, Ruthland Anglade, Director of MICT, Michèle Oriol, (Primature) Executive Secretary of the Interministerial Committee for Planning (CIAT), Alphonse Francis, Director General, Community of Municipalities of the intermunicipal region of Palmes and Jude Saint-Natus, Deputy National Coordinator, UN-HABITAT. This mission is part of the Municipal Cooperation Program Haiti-Canada Phase 2 (PCM2), a joint initiative of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), the City of Montreal and the Union of Municipalities of Quebec (UMQ) and largely funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Develop (MAECD). The PCM2 aims, inter alia, to complete the institutional strengthening of five (5) Haitian local authorities (city of Port au Prince and communes of Gressier, Léogâne, Grand Goâve and Petit Goâve, of national Federations of local elected officials with the involvement of local authorities and the Ministry of Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT) and bring the partners to play their role independently of conductor of development of their territory, to develop a transparent, efficient and sustainable administration and provide services to citizens. Delegates also participated in a working session with the Montreal Metropolitan Community (MMC), which enabled them to draw inspiration from Montreal model. Meetings on various topics were also held with UMQ and the "Corporation des Officiers Municipaux Agréés du Québec" (COMAQ) Finally, the delegates attended the annual FCM Conference in Niagara Falls, the opportunity to conduct meetings with political leaders of the organization on Canadian issues in municipal development.
