Tuesday, as part of the third edition of its annual event "A man a work" to honor a Haitian national who has distinguished himself in Quebec in the exercise of his profession, the Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal in the presence of dozens of important figures of the Montreal medical community and the Haitian community has paid tribute to the famous physician and researcher of Haitian descent, Jean-Claude Fouron for his contribution to the development of pediatric cardiology.

Recall that Dr. Jean-Claude Fouron was a pioneer in fetal cardiology in Quebec, a discipline that allows detection of heart defects in fetuses and treat them while they are still in the womb. In 1989, he founded at Centre hospitalier Sainte Justine the fetal cardiology unit, which he is still the Director, specializing in fetal cardiology and professor at the University of Montreal for over 40 years.

In 2013, the Consulate General of Haiti had paid tribute to the Pediatrician hematologist, of Haitian origin, Dr. Yvette Bonny under the Label "A woman a work" for her exceptional career and to have succeeded in April 1980, the first bone marrow transplant in Quebec and Eastern Canada.

In 2012 it was a tribute to the famous writer Dany Laferrière, winner of the Prix Médicis for literature in 2009 and a member of the French Academy since December 2013.
