Haiti - Agriculture : Workshop on the agricultural sectors
In order to equip staff of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) of solid knowledge to make them more efficient and effective in their mission of planning, guidance and control of the agricultural sector, technical managers, departmental directors, project managers of the Ministry participate from 18 to 21 June 2014, on the côte des Arcadins to a training workshop on agricultural value sectors/value chain.

This workshop led by Professor Edgar Jeanniton and economist Kesner Pharel aims to update and deepen the knowledge of the technical officials of MARNDR on the approach of agricultural sectors and methods for analyzing the sectors, and think about a better integration of peasant producers in the agricultural value chain; is part of the logic to better equip staff of the Ministry for better articulation of the chain of command within the management for better results.

In his opening speech, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development declared "The Ministry of Agriculture today makes another qualitative bound in the grip of its supervisory role of the agricultural sector, by organizing training workshop on the agricultural sectors for the benefit of its executives and some of its partners. This concept, we recognized it, despite its inclusion in our policy documents and strategic framework is not adequately mastered and owned by professionals in this ministry and many stakeholders [...]

[...] This training will allow on the one hand to improve your knowledge of the concept and secondly to help you better engage with various stakeholders in the agricultural sector. In addition, this training workshop, as you will see [...] takes into account your practical experience and responsibility in the chain of command, to stimulate debate and create synergy between participants and trainers.

I would like to thank the coordination RESEPAG (Strengthening of Agricultural Public Services), which funded the workshop. I extend a special thanks to the organizing committee, which is fully invested in the success of this initiative, not to mention companies who have agreed to share their experiences in this workshop. Finally, my thanks go to the facilitators trainers, who have the responsibility to enlighten you on the concept and draw you towards its practical application in your daily task [...]"
