Haiti - Social : Farewell Message by Mirlande Manigat to her late husband
Saturday at the state funeral of former President of Haiti, Professor Leslie Saint-Roc François Manigat, Mirlande Manigat his wife intervened to address a final message, full of emotion and love to his life companions.

Message by Mirlande Manigat :
"Leslie, Lelius, as I liked to call you,

Now you come to the end of a rich and full life.

You loved life so much whose you enjoyed the varied wealth, enjoying a sunset or enjoying a good meal. You had an eclectic taste for music, both a Latin American bolero that classic masters, Mozart's Requiem, especially the sublime Dies irae that touched the deepest soul of Christian that you were, but you was captivated by the music home and our compatriots were surprised to read the music criticism that you had made on Haitiando.

You loved life, but you had no fear of death, and in the last moments, overwhelmed by the disease, you implored God, pathetically, to terminate your existence. I remember your cry of pain when I told you, taking every precaution, the death of Guy Alexandre. You've cried, with tears: 'Why Guy, my God ? Why not me ?'

It was your way to lament the departure of the friend that you loved as if he were your son.

I felt that the end was near and I realized helplessly the deterioration of your condition. You were, too, a victim of terrible chikungugna, which completed to decimate your already weakened state. Your doctors, Jean-Robert Mathurin, Bernard Beauboeuf, knew it but they refrained to give me any deadline, impossible to determine with certainty and, moreover, no doubt, they anticipated that I will identify by myself the evidence. For them, they say, you were not an ordinary sick you were their friend and it meant everything. From the bottom of my heart I thank them for their constant attention and loyalty.

Other people spoke and speak of your great qualities: man, attentive and playful friend, the Professor; intellectual with a prodigious capacity of analysis; the political leader leader of men and women; passionate patriot of the public good, staunch defender of the rule of law and the preservation of republican virtues; your infinite ability to listen to others; your generosity, your incredible lucidity about yourself and others, this faculty of introspection about what you wanted to do and you did not realize, your defense of the doctrinal trilogy whose you have impregnated the RDNP : democracy, nationalism, social justice; your faith in the youth of the country and to whom your adressed your last public message on March 10, 2014.

It would require to be able to reconstruct the exceptional that you were by associating in a symbiosis enriched all these truths from scattered stories of your life and your work.

Leslie Manigat is not belong to me, but to all those manifested themselves.

Leslie, do not you feel this refreshing shower of sympathy, respect, these regrets that are expressed on the occasion of your departure ? These demonstrations come from all backgrounds, from the humblest to the most prominent ?

They came, they're all here, to repeat Aznavour that you loved. They are there around your coffin, physically or in spirit. And their tearful solicitude is a balm of comfort that does not dispel the pain, but makes it more bearable.

You do not belong to me, but to all those who revere your memory. On behalf of the family, I express a deep gratitude. It is understood that I detach the brothers of St. Louis de Gonzague, who generously offered their facility for this celebration, St. Louis where you made all your studies and which remained the alma mater.

We no longer hear the thunderous "Let's be serious," which made school this seriousness that characterized your life and your works, however, informed by a strong taste of life and gaiety that many people did not suspect at the teacher rather camped under an austere figure.

In what capacity I speak today ? Wife, companion of exciting or difficult times, a privileged witness of torments of the patriot distressed by the state of the country, the guardian of your memory, the vestal of your work in which your family, especially your daughter Sabine and your little son-Matari, we will ensure with jealously.

You do not belong to me. Came the fateful moment of the final separation. You left before me. You often teased me about that, telling me that thou wilt ask to Saint Pierre to reserve me a place with you in Paradise.

Leslie, when that time comes, my body will lengthen close to yours, but these two husks will not join up. But our souls yes. hey met, loved each other, worked together. Together they dreamed.

For this wonderful union formed in unity, respect, correspondence, at the time of leave you, at time of last monologue that those present here will understand, I say simply :

Farewell, my love and Thanks you !"
