Haiti - Security : Prime Minister visited the Haitian military engineering corps 12/07/2014 09:41:45 Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by the Minister Renauld, reviewed the troops composed of 30 military engineers trained in Ecuador and congratulated the young soldiers, for their commitment and actions that led to the construction of three road sections and other basic infrastructure, including the street Louverture and the place of Fort "La Crête Pierrot" highly symbolic place of the city, the implementation of a project to provide drinking water, currently in operation and their contribution in the fight against chikungunya "I'm really proud and I congratulate you on behalf of President Michel Martelly, for the work you are carrying out in this community," promising, in the framework of the agreement signed with Ecuador, that other young people will benefit from this training. All these works, carried out with the modest means of the state, reveal, according to the Prime Minister, the importance of strengthening state capacity to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable, noting that the country's defense, must be ensured by the son and daughters of the country and that the initiative of the Ministry of Defence to support this body of military engineering, is a strong signal sent by the Government to allow Haiti to regain its economic sovereignty and security. The Minister Lener Renauld, believes that the progressive implementation across the country of this pilot experience, which falls within the duration is a priority even if budgetary constraints imply some revision of the original objectives. In addition, he announced the forthcoming holding in Port-au-Prince, of a Convention on the defense of the country and the preparation of the White Paper of Defence, which are part of the common vision of President Martelly and Prime Minister Lamothe, who want to offer the country a better defense system to accelerate its development process.
