Haiti - Reconstruction : Green light for the mega real estate project in Bowenfield
On Wednesday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, met with the President of Petrocaribe, Bernardo Alvarez, who was accompanied by his technical staff, to inquire about the Bowenfield City Complex' project studies progress a large residential project and Commercial.

This real estate complex that will also include cultural infrastructure, health, education, sports and a police station, is a donation that former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez promised during his lifetime to the people and government of Haiti.

It is a project of 111 6-storey buildings including 5 story dedicated to housing, with apartments of 70 m2, all with a system of propane supply (as in Caracas), the ground floor being dedicated to commercial use (shops). These constructions will be able to withstand earthquakes of magnitude 8.2 on the Richter scale.

This real estate complex will be built on each side of the axis of Bowenfield, leading to the airport road (former track area of aviation, Delmas), now abandoned. The work will be supervised by the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation. The Unit Housing Construction and Public Buildings (UCLBP), who designed the development plan of the complex, will be also the contracting authority.

During this meeting, the Venezuelan insisted on the role of the Haitian government responsible for providing all basic services and health to the beneficiaries of this project. The Prime Minister promised to his interlocutors that the Government will honor its commitments and gave the green light to Venezuela to continue the project.

Following this meeting, Michel Présumé, Secretary of State for Planning told the press that the Phase I of the Project, study of soils and construction of 33 buildings, was ready to start.

The construction of the complex Bowenfield, is added to the list of social housing projects underway or already completed, of the Government, which plans to build 10,000 social housing units across the country, by the end of the quinquennium of President Martelly.
