Haiti - Economy : Visit of the Minister of Economy at the customs of Malpasse
On Friday, a delegation led by Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance, composed of Ronald Décembre, Secretary of State for Finance, Philippe Cinéas, Secretary of State for Public Works, Fresnel Jean-Baptiste, Director General of the General Administration of Customs (AGD), accompanied at the customs of Malpasse, a team of engineers from the Chinese construction company "Weeling" as part of an exploratory visit, for the construction of modern infrastructure, meeting the requirements of the border environment.

Smallness of premises of services, inadequate working materials and logistics needed for the widening of the tax base, steady rise in the level of Lake Azuéi only add to the suffering of the users of this border area.

The minister remains convinced that the improvement of working conditions of customs officers and the modernization of physical infrastructure can promote better service performance of this institution, that is, by its efficiency and performance one of the essential pillars of the country's economic health.



According to Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie "the Government can not really deal with his charges if the customs is not in top shape," Customs must be an efficient Administration, driven by highest standards of quality for enterprises and the public."

The visit also allowed her to learn about the challenges faced by customs officials, and especially to remind them of the importance of their institution in the economic chain, while urging them to continue and intensify their efforts to not only achieve the revenue targets, but also to help the State to better support the pressing concerns of the population. A visit highly appreciated by Jeantal Clervil, the Director of Customs of Malpasse.
