Haiti - Health : «Ayiti Air Anbilans» a turning point in Haiti
After the visit of the First Lady Sophia Martelly in June https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11196-haiti-health-sophia-martelly-visited-ayiti-air-anbilans-and-bernard-mevs-hospital.html the President Martelly will pay an official visit to the services of « Ayiti Air Anbilans » (AAA), a non-profit organization that offers the first country's emergency medical helicopter service.

Emergency situations abound in Haiti, however, the emergency services are not equipped, nor to deal with geographic challenges, or to respond quickly to emergencies, while many patients could have been saved if they had reached the emergency services in time. The helicopters of "Ayiti Air Anbilans" bring a real solution to the risks associated with the slow and poor transport conditions. Helicopters, equipped with modern equipment for critical care and surgery, allowing medical staff to stabilize critically ill or injured patients during transport to one of 15 clinics affiliated. Note that this transport is provided regardless of the ability to pay of patients.

If the multiplication and the opening of health facilities of best caliber such as clinics and health centers across the country, and the construction of larger health facilities, such as hospital OFATMA in Les Cayes, the departmental hospital of Artibonite in Gonaïves or Simbi Continental Hospital in Port-au-Prince, allow a larger portion of the population to have access to health care, it remains true that the slow access to services, especially for emergencies, is a problem to which responds "Ayiti Air Anbilans".

Recall that "Ayiti Air Anbilans" is the result of an agreement announced last January with "Air Methods Corporation" (AMC), the global leader in medical air transportation https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10226-haiti-health-air-ambulance-service-in-haiti.html Under the agreement of hospital services, AMC will provide two Bell 407 helicopters (primary and backup) and will employ three pilots and two mechanics. "Ayiti Air Anbilans" will employ the clinical team and provide medical direction. "Ayiti Air Anbilans" received its first helicopter in March 2014 and after being allowed to operate in Haiti, saved his first life in June 2014.
