Nigel Fisher, the UN deputy representative of the secretary general in Haiti [who took his functions in Haiti in April 2010], recently visited Cap-Haitien, in the North of the country, in order to evaluate the preparation of the local authorities and the humane actors in the event of crisis situations caused by a hurricane or a seism.

Nigel Fisher said he was "very pleased with the planning and mobilization of resources to face the hurricane season and the rain". The UN agencies have implemented a program of emergency preparedness, including storing 6,500 tons of food.
