Haiti - Security : «Haiti is on the road to stability» dixit Martelly
Thursday at the National Palace, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, attended a special meeting of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) about the efforts of the National Police in order to ensure the safety of the population.

In addition to this important meeting, the Head of State and Head of Government, in its capacity as President of the CSPN, issued a joint statement for among others highlight the positive results achieved on the ground thanks to the commitment of the high command of the PNH.

Indeed, the President of the Republic demonstrated it by a significant decrease of travel warning adopted against the country and the visit in large numbers of foreign tourists and compatriots from the diaspora in the country during the summer. While noting with satisfaction the gradual recovery of the nightlife across the metropolitan area, the Head of State welcomed the fact that no case of kidnapping has been registered during the month of August 2014.

"Haiti is on the road to stability, you know that we need security and stability for the development and economic recovery," declared Martelly.

The Prime Minister, abundant in the same direction as the President, praised the merits of security plans implemented for the period from June to August by the National Police of Haiti (PNH) to undermine the foundations of insecurity across the country. The figures speak for themselves: 248 arrests, 351 motorcycles confiscated, 570 PNH interventions.

"We presented to the President of the Republic a project to upgrade security in the country through the establishment of a command center with ultra-modern camera through the streets of the capital in phase 1 and that will be deployed throughout the rest of the country to provide security in the same way that the largest capital around the world, the largest capital have their command center, cameras, a rapid intervention force and a system 911 you are calling when you have an emergency for the police to give a replica, well we are going to invest in this system in Haiti for the first time in its history has a system, a modern operations center for the police to be able to provide security upstream and be able to give replicas for citizens, that the people may feel that we watch over him," declared Laurent Lamothe.

The President of CSPN announced a significant expansion of the fixed points through the streets of the capital, and pledged his full support to the police force to better pursue its mandate to serve and protect the public.

The various members of CSPN have alternately announced packages of measures with the aim to maintain this safe environment obtained at the cost of sacrifice and abnegation.



The Commander in Chief of the PNH has in particular assured the population that every effort has been spared to continue to track down escaped from the prison of Croix-des-Bouquets on last 10 August. Continuing operations, according to Mr. Godson Orélus are conducted throughout the metropolitan area to quell armed gangs terrorizing the population.
