Haiti - Social : Launch of the competition «The Ten Outstanding Young Persons» 31/08/2014 09:05:38 Organised under the patronage of the Embassy of Canada, Médiatexte and other partners, the competition aims to identify, recognize and appreciate the values and merits of 10 Haitian youth aged 18-40 years, who excelled in the following areas economic, political, education, culture, environment, child welfare, world peace and / or human rights, humanitarian and / or volunteering, science and / or technology, development and / or personal achievement, health. This project responds to the need to provide benchmarks for Haitian youth who must constitute a pool for decades to come in the country. Abraham Jeskar Hansen, the project manager, has insisted on the fact that the competition aims to promote innovative and creative capacity of young people in various fields and gives the possibility to the the first winners to represent Haiti in the competition "The Outstanding Young Persons of the World" organized by the JCI office at the World Congress next year. Yves Bernard Remarais, the National President of JCI Haiti, declared "No society can live fully without landmarks. Recognizing this, the JCI Haiti and its partners want to value those who give body and soul to improve the conditions of the lives of others [...] In these difficult times, it becomes imperative to give more space for young people able to project the best that man can offer." Key dates of the competition are : - On August 29, 2014 (start of the contest); - On October 15, 2014 (Close of collecting applications); - On November 18, 2014 (Selection of laureates by the jury); - On December 5, 2014 (Awards ceremony).
