Haiti - Agriculture : Significant increase of egg production in Cité Soleil
Michel Chancy, Secretary of State for Animal Production and Agronomist Arnoux Severin, Departmental Director West of the Ministry of Agriculture, visited the farm BEL-SOL in Cité Soleil, an initiative of several organizations of Bel Air and Cité Soleil whose MODECO, MOFAK supported by the Government through the Special Plan of Cité Soleil https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11608-haiti-agriculture-special-agricultural-plan-in-cite-soleil.html

Michel Chancy spoke of the importance of this farm that can accommodate 8,000 hens and that the latter only have 2,000 before the Special Plan. With this plan, 2,000 hens have already been delivered to the farm, which now allows it to produce 3,200 eggs per day and 2,000 other hens will be delivered shortly. This increase in production will build customer loyalty and ensure an substantial savings for merchant associations responsible for the marketing of eggs. Besides henss, provides technical support to organizations working since 2009 on the farm.



Roséda Sylvestre, the Director of the farm, praised the efforts of the Government Martelly / Lamothe in the strengthening of the farm that had suffered significant losses during the earthquake of 2010.

Arnoux Severin took the opportunity to take stock of the various projects that are like a revolving credit for goats and cattle and a support for banana farmers and fishermen. He also stressed the benefits of the BEL-SOL farm on the 350 hectares planted with bananas in the region who use poultry waste to produce organic fertilizer.
