Haiti - Justice : $ 5,6M for a prison in Fort-Liberté
DFS Construction LLC of Annapolis (Maryland), received a contract from the United States government of $5.6 million to build the prison of Fort-Liberté (Northern Haiti). The prison with a capacity of about 300 inmates will be located in a complex which will include an administration building and a one floor-infirmary.

On Friday, the United States Department of State announced the start of construction in October. This new penitentiary center should be ready by 2016.

In addition, Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, recently declared that the Government of Haiti, planned to demolish the National Penitentiary, located in the center of Port-au-Prince. Originally built to house up to 1,000 inmates this crowded center, today host more than 4,000.
