Haiti - Security : Prison Break in Cap-Haitien 21/09/2014 09:48:52
According to Antoine Monest, the Director of the Police Department, the three escaped prisoners are : Antoine Bénel, sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, Célo Marcelin, awaiting trial for illegal possession of firearms and Fritz Béliard, to life imprisonment for kidnapping and are actively sought. The Director Monest indicated that an unidentified accomplice had provided a saw to inmates, adding that an officer of the National Penitentiary Administration (APENA), responsible for monitoring, among others of their cells, was put in isolation, suspected of being involved in the escape, pending the outcome of the investigation. He assured that measures will be taken to prevent such an incident from happening again.
