Haiti - Environment : The fight against the predators of the environment strengthens
The Ministry of the Environment announced the establishment of a set of measures for the protection of the wooded area in the department of Grand Anse to fight against predators of the environment.

10 officials of the Directorate of Environmental Monitoring, backed by police officers, are stationed in the region. A budget of 30 million gourdes is expected to finance the operations of environmental protection in this department.

Repressive measures were taken against predators of the environment, including the interception and seizure of trucks carrying hundreds of bags of coal, as well as equipment used for cutting wood as well as arrests.

While focusing on the Grand Anse, the Ministry of Environment is preparing to expand the campaign of aerial seeding and theimplementation of the National Forest Management Plan to other parts of the country.

In accordance with the vision of President and Prime Minister as well as the roadmap that has been entrusted to him, Jean Francois Thomas, Minister of the Environment, focuses the efforts of his Ministry on environmental education of the population, called to collaborate with law enforcement in order to stop the trade of charcoal, excessive cutting of trees the main causes of desertification of the mountains, deforestation in the region and damage to the national forests.
