Haiti - Ecuador : Creation of a scholarship program for Haitian

Friday on the sidelines of the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, Duly Brutus, the Foreign Minister had a bilateral meeting with his Ecuadorian counterpart Ricardo Patiño. The two men have addressed issues of regional and global concern, highlighted the excellent relations between the two countries and discussed various areas of cooperation.

The Minister Ricardo Patiño,highlighted the new model of South-South cooperation and stressed the need to continue strengthening bilateral and regional relations. For his part, the Chancellor Brutus expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Ecuador and stressed the close ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

After the meeting, Ecuador and Haiti signed an agreement for cooperation in higher education, to create a scholarship program for Haitian citizens wishing to pursue studies in civil engineering and in the field of medicine, in Public Higher Education Institutions in Ecuador.

This agreement on education is geared towards sectors considered strategic for the reconstruction of Haiti; but also on measures to ensure the mobility of members of the university community of Ecuador in Haiti, on the basis of principles of mutual respect and solidarity with the Haitian people.
