A little history :
It is in 1816 that General Francisco Javier Mina made a trip to Haiti to seek the support of the country in the quest for the independence of Mexico. Although the initial rapprochement between the two countries began in the nineteenth century, it was not until July 11, 1929, that the diplomatic relations were formalized between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Genaro Estrada and Haiti, Camille Léon.

In 1934, the Mexican Government has appointed José Gil Perez y Ortiz as extraordinary and plenipotentiary representatives of Mexico in Haiti. This diplomatic mission was elevated to the rank of Embassy December 18, 1945, with José Angel Ceniceros, as the first Ambassador of Mexico. In return, Haiti has appointed the same year, Jacques Antoine, the first Ambassador of Haiti in Mexico
