Although this decision to hold a state funeral, is conforms to the protocol and the laws in effect in Haiti, this decision bother not legally, but morally... The Senator Francisco Delacruz stresses that, because of the past of Jean-Claude Duvalier, the government should think twice before making a decision and evaluate the impact of its decision on the victims of the regime and the people. Tuesday Senator Andrys Riché, spoke out clearly against a state funeral, calling the head of state to have a minimum of respect for the victims of the regime of the dictator. However, he said he was not opposed to "official funeral" without specifying the difference... For his part, Henry Robert Sterlin, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (former ambassador to Haiti under Jean-Claude Duvalier) estimated Monday, as the National Consortium of Political Parties Haitians, perfectly legitimate of state funeral for former President "If the former president Lesly Manigat, who spent three months in office was entitled to a funeral, why Mr. Duvalier who was president for 14 years and continued to receive his pension, would not be entitled to a state funeral ?"
