Haiti - Health : 4th edition of the annual Health Fair and Safety at Work 25/10/2014 11:18:32 "Better Work Haiti" will welcome more than 3,000 industrial workers in the textile assembly at the 4th edition of its annual Health Fair and Safety at Work in the Industrial Park Metropolitan SONAPI in Port-au-Prince from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Buildings 48, 49, and trauma Centre of the Office of Industrial Accidents, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA). Local organizations, such as the Centre for the Promotion of Women Workers (CPFO), the OFATMA, the upport Group against cancer, PSI-Haiti, the Haitian Foundation for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases, the Ophthalmological Clinic Specialized-MMI, "Share Hope Foundation", "Starkey Foundation" and the Ministry of Health, will participate in the fair by providing basic health services and outreach activities to workers. "Better Work Haiti" provides that more than 1,000 general consultations, gynecological and skin, and eye exams, testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV / AIDS and diabetes, and early detection of breast cancer and prostate cancer, will be carried free of charge for the benefit of workers. Sexual and maternal health, cholera prevention, sexual violence, personal hygiene and healthy eating are some of the topics covered in the educational sessions. This event is sponsored by the "American Eagle Outfitters Inc" and "Gildan, Fishman & Tobin Apparel LLC." Moreover, the DPC Tabarre, with the support of the Italian NGO COOPI, the Haitian Red Cross will host training sessions on disaster preparedness and will conduct evacuation simulations in case of emergency.
