Haiti - Security : Shootings in Petit-Goâve, two injured... 25/10/2014 11:57:48 Several shots were heard and demonstrators as well as leaders of the Joint Liberation Front (MLF) have quickly fled by throwing a few stones. After the departure of the USGPN agents, agents of the Departmental Unit for Maintenance of Order (UDMO) and of Body for Intervention and Maintenance of Order (CIMO) occupied strategic points in the city of Petit Goâve, including Gaston Avenue, the street Benoit and National Road #2, rallying points for opposition members in order to prevent any attempt by the opposition to resume protest. The security forces fired shots and tear gas on the National Road. The National Police of Haiti (PNH) took control of the National Road. A boy of 23 years living in the Gaston Avenue, Youri Laguerre was shot in the buttocks and was taken to the Notre-Dame Hospital, his life is not in danger. By late afternoon, a young girl, 16, Joseline René student in Lycée Faustin Soulouque, received a bullet in her leg and was transported to the hospital. Those responsible for the shooting has not yet been formally identified. Moreover, during the day, the agents of UDMO have arrested and released, two young teachers and police arrested several other people. Two journalists: Lamy Fenold (Correspondant RFM) and Séraphin Estimé (Correspondant radio timoun) were verbally abused by officers of CIMO. Recall that on Thursday, another journalist, Méance Jean, Correspondent of radio télé Ginen was assaulted with a knife by two young opposition protesters, according to his statement.
