Haiti - Politic : Millions dollars of announcements in Côtes-de-Fer
Saturday in the commune of Côtes-de-Fer, in the presence of thousands of jubilant Cotiferrois, President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, proceeded at the launch of the 11th edition of the "Gouvènman an Lakay ou" program. According to the Head of State is a "way of breaking with past practice, according to which after the vote, voters will never have the privilege of meeting the leaders. The Government plans to invest $ 3 million in projects, including the renovation of fishermen's houses, the construction of three health centers, a local school and the concreting of roads. "I reaffirmed to the location of the population cotiféroise my firm determination to support the process of development of the community [...] The work in progress in Côtes-de-Fer fall in line with our objective to make this area a real tourist destination [...]" launched the Head of State.

This 11th edition was marked by the participation of Senator Wencesclas Lambert, the Deputy Leslie Guirand and the Mayor of the town Widner Rozier who highlighted the achievements of the Government Martelly / Lamothe for the development of the department of Southeast.



Agriculture :
Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, responded to the grievances of the agricultural sector, among others the establishment of water pumps and construction of Centres for fishermen, under construction.

He announced important measures to support farmers in Côtes-de-Fer, particularly in the production of sisal, one of the main agricultural activities in the municipality. He recalled that arrangements are underway to mentor farmers and entrepreneurs involved in the culture and operation of sisal in Côtes-de-Fer. To this end, the Ministry intends develop a partnership with the company Sisalcol for the processing of agricultural waste into compost, food for livestock and biogas. Stressing that the ministry had already installed a pump to irrigate 50 hectares of land, adding that it was also planned to equip the agricultural center of Gris-Gris with appropriate materials.

President Martelly and Prime Minister handed on this occasion, a corn mill 750 kg to the association "Union of Women" of the 6th section of Côtes-de-Fer.

On the sideline of the "Gouvènman an lakay ou" program the government team plans to distribute 1,000 bags of seed, 300 goats and 50 cattle and 100 fishing kits and five boats with 15HP engines to fishermen's associations.

Recall that on Friday, President Martelly accompanied by the Prime Minister went early afternoon at the dairy of the communal section, La Source-Mayette, funded by the Haitian government and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). They took the opportunity to officially launch the campaign for identifying cattle.

Infrastructures :
The President of the Republic has promised to provide the commune with one of the major highways of the country, by building Route 44, already under construction. The elderly, who lived through the events of the previous state of the road, did not hide their satisfaction and hope that this action will be enough to change the lives of the inhabitants of the town.

The President also announced the construction of a public square in Côtes-de-fer and also promised to build a boulevard inside the city to promote tourism development and provide more opportunities for citizens of that commune long forgotten by governments that have succeeded.

The Mayor of Côtes-de-Fer and the Delegate of South-East have told us that Route 44 was "the gift of the century for the citizens [...]" For his part, Prime Minister Lamothe affirmed "We strongly believe that we can not talk about development without building roads."

Tourism :
Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTCI) stated in summary that the Tourism Development Plan of Côtes-de-Fer includes a large boulevard, an airfield, a golf course, more than 1,000 rooms hotels reference, a commercial corridor, adventure circuits etc... The plan aims to make Côtes-de-Fer a true resort. Education :

The University of Notre Dame has offered 25 scholarships in various fields, to the youth of this commune, to continue to promote human development, essential for the development of Haiti. Dozens of tablets of the brand Surtab were also distributed to young students.

On Friday, President Michel Martelly accompanied by the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe proceeded to the opening of Lycée Jean-Louis Dulciné of Gris-Gris, a locality of Côtes-de-Fer, a brand new infrastructure consisting of 24 classrooms, two computer rooms, an infirmary, a cafeteria and a playing field. The construction of this Lyéee were funded by the State Treasury to the tune of 77 million gourdes. The ceremony was attended by, among others by Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education and several hundred students and residents came to show their appreciation and satisfaction for the construction of this modern building.

Health :
In the area of ​​health, Dr. Florence Guillaume, Minister of Public Health and Population (MSPP) has handed over the keys of six ambulances to the Town Hall of Côtes-de-Fer. Bringing to nine the total number of vehicles currently available at Ambulance Centre of the Southeast department. Finally, she promised that the communes of Thiotte, Bainet, Grand-Grosier and/or the localities of La Montagne of Jacmel Cap-Rouge and Gris-Gris, will each receive an ambulance to better facilitate the transportation of patients.



Justice :
Jean Renel Sanon, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, announced the delivery of 10,000 birth in the commune.

Social :
A solar electrification project of 300 houses in rural areas, will be developed within 6 communal sections of Côtes-de-Fer.
