Haiti - Health : Inauguration of the Hospital «La Providence» in Gonaïves

On Tuesday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by the President Michel Martelly, will be in Gonaïves to proceed to the the inauguration of the Hospital "La Providence".

This modern hospital that will be a reference center, is funded by the Canadian International Development Agency through the United Nations Office for Project Support Services (UNOPS). It is built in Morne Blanc, by the Spanish Group "Abantia", in consortium with "onstrucciones Cots y Claret". A Canadian investment of approximately $ 30 million for the construction, equipment and the implementation of a program to support the management of the hospital.

Covering an area of ​​10,380 m2 and a capacity of 200 beds, the new Hospital will have for vocationcare for mothers and children. It will include among others: 4 hospitalization blocks, 1 surgical block, maternity, intensive care unit, particularly for newborns, an emergency department, a laboratory and a pharmacy, among others...

Several members of the ministerial cabinet, as well as Frantz Liautaud, Ambassador of Haiti in Canada, the new Ambassador of Canada accredited to Haiti, Paula Caldwell St-Onge, will also attend the inauguration ceremony which marks a new era in the development of the health sector in the department of Artibonite.

Note that thanks to a donation of Mexico of $2.5 million, 4,000 m2 of solar panels will provide 200 KW to power 4 priority areas of the hospital including the emergency department.
