Haiti - Agriculture : Invasion of caterpillars in cassava plantations 14/11/2014 11:28:30 The members of the delegation of the Ministry met the representatives of the farmers grouped together in an organization called the Association of Irrigators of the Plain of Arcahaie (AIPA) and Paul André, President of the Federation of Boards of Directors of the Communal Sections (CASEC's) of Haiti. Elick Guerrier, President of AIPA, and the CASEC successively took the floor to explain the situation. Many farmers have made quite eloquent testimony on the damage recorded in cassava plots. The Agronomist Arnoux Sévrin, proceeded to the delivery of 80 sprayers, along with 400 bags of insecticides and protective equipment, which will be managed by the AIPA, which covers the irrigated areas of the plain of Matheux where are the infected areas. These materials will be used by the AIPA through its decentralized structures called Federation of banks (7 banks). The amount of insecticide is enough for the prevention and treatment of 400 ha of cassava infested. After the delivery, the agronomist Jackson Donis explained in detail the phenomenon of infestation, how to use pumps and measures to be taken for prevention. HL/ HaitiLibre
