Haiti - Culture : Heritage, Education and Cultural Industries 20/11/2014 12:06:12 Three years after the holding of the National Conference on Culture in July 2011, these days of reflection will take stock and put into perspective the possibilities in terms of protection and exploitation of heritage, cultural education and artistic training and finally ,of development of cultural and creative industries. The first day discussions will give the floor successively to experts who will present papers drawing up an inventory of heritage, cultural education and the creative industries and then public authorities, ministries and agencies concerned, as well as holders of private initiatives in these sectors. The focus will be on the structural actions made since the National Conference of Culture. Haitian cultural heritage : General framework (experts) - The built, historical monuments and natural sites (Institute for the Protection of National Heritage - ISPAN) - The artisanal know-how by the National Handicrafts Office (ONART) - Traditional festivals, by the National Bureau of Ethnology (BNE). situation of the Haitian cultural industries : General framework (experts) - Public Policy (MC, MCI, MTIC, BHDA) - A look at the sector of music, crafts, publishing and audiovisual. The second day of the meeting will also bring together a number of Ministers of Culture of the past decade that will be invited to share their personal experiences and proposals for a better continuity of government actions. Status of cultural education in Haiti : General framework (experts) - Cultural Training in schools by the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) and artistic training by the National School of Art (ENARTS). Round Table of Ministers of Culture : Factors favoring and disfavoring the continuity of government actions - Personal experiences - Proposals.
