Haiti - NOTICE : Internship opportunity at the Canadian Embassy 11/12/2014 10:44:51
The Public Affairs and Digital Diplomacy Section of the Embassy of Canada in Haiti is offering to a young university graduate (undergraduate, master’s) or vocational training graduate (Centre Pilote, Canado-Technique, etc.) an approximately three-month internship on its team. Only applicants who fit those profiles will be considered.
Screened-in applicants will undergo an oral interview and language test. The selected applicant will also need to pass basic security screening before being accepted.
Duties :
Under the direction of the Embassy’s Counsellor (Political Economic) and Public Affairs Officer:
- Support the routine management of the Embassy of Canada’s social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter);
- Develop content and communication material for the Embassy’s social media accounts;
- Monitor and analyze the major news themes in the Haitian and Canadian press (Francophone and Anglophone);
- Provide logistical support for the activities of the Public Affairs and Digital Diplomacy Section;
- Create new Internet networking contacts and relationships;
- Be able to respond quickly to various questions from Internet users;
Create lists of keywords (hashtags) and topics of interest for the various divisions; and
- Analyze the usage results of various web platforms and make the appropriate recommendations.
Depending on his or her profile, motivation and the results achieved in performing the above tasks, the intern might be given responsibility for fully managing one or more projects.
Profile and abilities :
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required in French, English and Creole;
- Previous experience in social media (Facebook, Twitter) and public affairs or specialization in communication;
- Full proficiency in the use of computer-based tools (social media, word processors, Internet, email);
- Keen interest in international relations, political, economic and cultural current events, and social media;
- Knowledge of terms used in social networks;
- Ability to communicate quickly and easily; and
- Knowledge of photography and photo editing programs.
Conditions :
- Start of internship: January 2015
- Length of internship: Until March 31, 2015, full time (37.5 hours/week), with possibly of extension
- Compensation: Small service contract
- Flexibility in work schedules
