Haiti - Chicago Diaspora : Activities of the 211th anniversary of independence
Lesly Condé Consul General of Haiti in Chicago, presents to the entire Haitian community his wishes of Happy New Year 2015 and reminds to the compatriots of Chicago and throughout the Midwest as well as friends of Haiti, that 1 and 2 January 2015 respectively bring the 211th anniversary of our National Independence and the Day of Ancestors.

On this occasion, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago, invites the brothers and sisters of the community at a solemn Mass to be celebrated on Thursday, 1 January at 5:30 p.m. to the Church of Our Lady of Peace, located at 7801 South Jeffery, Chicago. After the religious ceremony a reception will be held in the basement of the church. This invitation is extended to people of all religious denominations.

Furthermore, the Saturday, January 10, the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti, the Consular Mission and other local organizations invite all compatriots to a large community meeting to be held after 6:00 p, m., at Levy Center located at 300 Dodge Ave., Evanston.

On the program: different speakers, songs, poems, musical entertainment etc... The traditional pumpkin soup will be served and a memory of our dear Haiti distributed to all attendees. We will take this opportunity to honor the memory of the victims of the earthquake of January 12, 2010.

Also to mark this important date, the Mission will also present a special program hosted by Jacques Frantz, the Sunday, January 4 simultaneously on 1240 AM, 1470 AM and the site www.megastarinter.com 6:00 to 7:00 pm. It will be hosted by Jacques Frantz.

The Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago encourages members of our larger family to come numerous to demonstrate their national pride and solidarity, by welcoming the New Year in harmony and respect.
