Haiti - Music : D-1 International Jazz Festival of Port-au-Prince (PAPJAZZ)
From Saturday 17 to Saturday, January 24, 2015, Haiti will host the 9th edition of the International Jazz Festival of Port-au-Prince (PAPJAZZ).

This year the Festival will offer the public more than 30 concerts and "after hours jam sessions" every evening on new sites. International artists from 11 countries invited: Belgium, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, the United States and Trinidad and for the first time, the Festival hosts the Great Britain in its committee will be present as well as the renowned Haitian artists and rising stars of Haitian music and Creole jazz "Made in Haiti" for this 9th edition of the Festival. Concerts will take place in FOKAL at Historical Park of the Sugar Cane, on the Boyer and Saint-Pierre Squares in Petionville.

The headliners in 2015 come from the United States, Canada, France, Trinidad and Tobago, from Haiti and its diaspora including :

  • "The Yellow Jackets" : Mythical jazz fusion group, from United States, recipient of 2 Grammy Awards (production Haiti Jazz Foundation) ;
  • Ranee Lee : Canadian jazz singer winner of a Juno Award ;
  • Laurent of "Wilde Power Trio" : Trio of the great French jazz pianist whose last album was cheered by critics of jazz ;
  • Étienne Charles : Talented trumpeter of Jazz Caribbean from Trinidad and Tobago; (production Haiti Jazz Foundation) ;
  • Maya Azucena : merican singer committed to the cause of women in the world ;
  • Tabou Combo : The legendary konpa group, which will be accompanied by very talented Haitian jazz saxophonist, Jowee Omicil ;
  • Chardavoine : One of most promising Haitian jazz guitarists and of Creole jazz.

This year the Festival's closing will be on the new scene Air France of Triomphe. As promised, the Festival reclaims its place in the Champs de Mars with the provision of Tabou Combo and Jowee Omicil, who will succeed to those of Triomphe, at kiosque Occide Jeanty.
