Haiti - Tourism : The Festival PAPJAZZ a tourist attraction

Since Saturday and until 24 January, the Jazz Festival of Port-au-Prince (PAPJAZ) has become a tourist attraction. More than 30 concerts and after hours jam sessions every evening on new sites. International artists from 11 countries invited: Belgium, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, the United States and Trinidad and for the first time, the Festival hosts the Great Britain in its committee will be present as well as the renowned Haitian artists and rising stars of Haitian music and Creole jazz Made in Haiti, for this 9th edition of the Festival. Concerts will take place in FOKAL at Historical Park of the Sugar Cane, on the Boyer and Saint-Pierre Squares in Petionville.

Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries declared Saturday in her opening speech of the Jazz Festival of Port-au-Prince "This prestigious event puts Haiti once again on the international events map [...] The public both national and international, will find thus a good reason to go out, consume, share and play. The perfect combination of tourism and culture, is there.

[...] We have the privilege for 8 days to commune with 9 groups from all over and live with them the miracle renewed of this universal language of jazz to communicate the joy of being together [...]

Today music invites itself into a tourist destination. Although some still proclaim the paradox whose are the subject these two themes : the tourism gives to see, the music suggests to hear. However, it is nevertheless true that the attractive power of this festival is significant for the Haitian tourism sector that is renewed. It is indisputable that the animation of a destination remains a significant ingredients of its tourist offer [...]"
