Haiti - Security : Graduation Ceremony of 1,118 new PNH officers
Thursday at the Police Academy, in Frères, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Prime Minister Evans Paulalso Chairman of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) and of Senate Vice President, Andris Riché, attended the graduation of 1,118 new agents (including 113 women) of the 25th promotion of the National Police of Haiti (PNH).

The ceremony took place in the presence of Pierre Richard Casimir, the new Minister of Justice and Public Security, Godson Orélus, Director General of the HNP, the professors of the National Police Academy, graduated officers, their relatives and friends.

In his speech, the Head of State declared "To each of you, dear graduates, I have to extend my warmest congratulations [...] The graduation of a promotion of police officers is always an event that reassures and comforts our community in its peace needs. I would like to place the role of this 25th Promotion in the upward march that pursues the PNH. Protect and serve, sometimes in a climate of social fever, requires, and I am repeat, intelligence and tact. I will not pass over in silence the fact that your promotion includes only about 10% women. I wish good work to our new police officers, I am sure, will surely work to strengthen the prestige of the PNH," inviting the new promotion to put themselves at community service, to honor its mission to protect and serve, even in a climate of social fever.



Evans Paul, as the Head of State, welcomed the release of the new agents, emphasizing on the strengthening of the PNH, given its role in the maintenance of order, in the application of the Constitution, the promotion of the rule of law, political stability and a favorable social climate to achieving inclusive, fair, free and democratic elections in the country.

For his part, Godson Orélus while highly praising the President of the Republic for his unwavering dedication to the development of the police institution, expressed his satisfaction. He believes that with this effective the PNH is about to make a precious dream, thanking the international community, including the United States and Canada, for their unconditional support to the PNH "The honor falls to me to greet consistency and determination of those who made the route with us [...] After 10 months of training, they are 1,118 to say to people that they can now count on their expertise [...] It is imperative that you are firm in your convictions, made the law your only compass."



Third of the Development Plan 2012-2016 of the PNH, that 25th promotion puts the size of the PNH to over 12,000 agents.
