Haiti - Politic : The Club of Madrid also calls for the strengthening of the Minustah...
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Evans Paul received, the former Bolivian President Jorge Quiroga, Vice President of the Club of Madrid and the former Mexican President Calderon Fellipe who led the high-level delegation https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13036-haiti-politic-4th-high-level-mission-of-the-club-of-madrid.html

Discussions between the Head of Government and the two former presidents related in particular to the organization of elections, the dysfunction of Parliament and street demonstrations. The Prime Minister, Paul, gave the assurance that his government is fully committed and will do everything to create a climate conducive to the organization of honest, inclusive and credible elections. He renewed the commitment to cooperate with the President of the Republic to the resumption of economic activities, to boost growth and restore confidence in the business world.

Asked about the possibility of using public funds for the benefit of a political party in the next election, Evans Paul assured his interlocutors of the commitment of his Government to counteract these abuses and put in place mechanisms to achieve it "we do not offer a ministry as a gift to a political party for campaigning; they are invited to join us to govern the country in the interests of the population."

During their 48-hours mission, in addition to the President Martelly and Prime Minister Paul, the delegation met including Senator Andris Riché, representatives of different political parties, Cardinal Chibly Langlois, Ambassadors and private sector personalities.

Wednesday at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, minutes before the departure of the delegation, Jorge Quiroga has asked the international community to maintain and strengthen its presence in Haiti through the Minustah and invited the United Nations, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the European Union to send "on-site mission to observe the electoral process."
